terrorists ?

i hate to do this... i really don't like to put stuff like this on here because of its implications of equating islam with terrorism and all the propagandas of fear and hate.

but i thought this link was worth mentioning because it is on a republican blog. this means that obama's connections will be a huge problem in the general election. and if they are not addressed now, he will never stand a chance against the republicans, let alone the moderate democrats...

another thing that was disturbing to me was this video that i found online...

go to the end of the Youtube tape and hear Obama's words from his book, "Dreams of My Father," and Pastor Wright's hate speech on Hiroshima and Sharpsville on the video. it suggests that he was there during the Wright hate speech. Obama says, while the boys seated next to him, "were doodling in their church bulletin" Reverend Wright spoke on Sharpsville and Hiroshima!" not sure if they were the same speeches as the videos, but what other context can wright talk about sharpsville and hiroshima?

however, i was more concerned with the quote that closed the video, which said:

"If nationalism could create a strong and effective insularity, deliver on its
promise of self-respect, then the hurt it might cause well-meaning whites, or
the inner turmoil it caused people like me, would be of little consequence."

i think it explains why obama threw the clintons under the bus for AA suport.

he knows what he is doing is wrong and he knows that he's hurting well-meaning folks like the clintons. but all this is good to bring self-respect to AA community.

i think this is dangerous path he chose because all movements to bring about self-respect or to reach a moral higher ground have ended in vain.

again i worry, not because he is necessarily a bad person, but that he may be blinded by his own ideological fervor.

i quickly read this and didn't watch the video, but i think there are two problems with your statements.

first, this one:

"he knows what he is doing is wrong and he knows that he's hurting well-meaning folks like the clintons. but all this is good to bring self-respect to AA community."

just because wright said that thing doesn't mean obama thinks its the right way. you go too far. seriously, i know religious people who go to church where they agree with most of what's said but don't agree with all of it.. or they go for social reasons, to be part of a community. and they discuss what they do and do not agree with.. but it sounds like you're putting obama in the camp that hews close to everything wright said. furthermore, wright is part of a particular inflammatory tradition.. that doesn't make it good, but there's a lot of context you're leavning out.. like the republicans will. so strategically you may be right, but be fair at least in your own blog. you're practically writing as if you were forming the republican campaign against obama.

"i think this is dangerous path he chose because all movements to bring about self-respect or to reach a moral higher ground have ended in vain."

hmm.. i don't agree with this either, and i want you to clarify. what movements are you refering to? lots of groups try to gain respect, and many have over many hundreds of years. are you saying they all ended in vain? that makes no sense. are you saying they got there in a really bad/awful way? probably some of them. i knew someone who studied the rwanda truth and reconcilliation commissions, amd i remember them telling me that there is a lot to say about a group trying to come to terms with a tragedy, to build themselves back up, to have self-respect (for intsnace, they didn't take revenge, can they respect themselves for that) and to have mutual respect.. and getting to that process may have been hard, but maybe it wasn't in vain?

of course, i've chosen an extreme example. i'd say the green movement, or the consumer advocacy movement, have come a long way towards building self-respect amongst their constituents.

omar -
the quote was from himself, so i was only trying to understand where he is coming from.

the rest of your comments i agree with. and think that you are right to point out that i am only insinuating the negative outcome when positive ones are also possible. i guess my worry is that most of the time, we want good things, and we get ourselves to committ extremism or some movement because we want something better. sometimes, when the movement gets out of control and irrationality takes hold, it usually ends bad. that is my worry. right now, it is certainly not the case, but the anecdotes of bad behavior from obama's supporters are what underlie my worry. again, these are all worries and i just like to be aware of these things so that we can take steps to correct them before it gets out of hand. i am only hoping that obama recognizes it and provides leadership in this regard, so far he has shown scant effort. hence my blog posts...
